There has been so much coverage in the media about our oceans and quite rightly so. I have always lived in villages and towns and my parents could never afford a family holiday therefore, the first time I was ever in water was during a swimming lesson at secondary school! However later in life I grew to love the sea after holidays with my own family. I will never forget a time when I was in Formentera, it was a windy but sunny day and I was sitting in a shallow rock pool facing the sun. After a few minutes, I closed my eyes, could feel the sun on my face and could feel and hear the waves crashing against my skin.
That was the first time I ever felt completely present and at one with nature. The constant movement of the waves calmed me, I switched off from everything around me and was completely at one with the sea. Its hard to put into words what happened to me that afternoon but it felt like I meditated without knowing it. When I finally got up from the sea, I felt like a heavy weight had been lifted off my shoulders, I felt weightless. It was a truly magical experience, the deepest connection I had ever felt with nature. This piece of art was created for all lovers of the sea, of our amazing world around us, of meditation and present living.
