Mindfulness art has become prevalent in my body of work, whether I'm working in inks or creating oil paintings. In 2016 during a year of difficulty, I discovered the teachings of Eckhart Tolle on the Oprah Winfrey Supersoul Conversations podcast - A New Earth. I was captivated, everything Eckhart and Oprah spoke about resonated so much with me. The timing was crazy, there I was, pretty lost in life, worried about my future and these two amazing souls appeared...teaching me about the human "ego" how it works and what I should do to keep it in check....And so I picked up my paintbrush to give myself a constant reminder, to tell myself daily to "beware of the ego". The blue tones represent positive thinking and the dark grey tones represent the negative egoic thoughts. We can never make negative thoughts disappear for good but we can be aware of them and be in control of them.
Knowing and understanding when your ego comes into play is such a powerful skill, I am very much in tune with it now, I know when its interfering with my thoughts and I've learned how to switch it off. So I'm passing on the baton with this original painting made from oil paints for you to have a reminder in your home to be aware of the ego.
