New Special Edition Originals: An Impression Of Blossoms...

How are you? It's a lovely bank holiday weekend here in London and I'm busy prepping my home studio for the biggest open house event in the UK!

This time next weekend, Luana Asiata and I will be showing our works during the Dulwich Festival Artist Open House. We would love to see you if you’re available? My studios will be open from 10am to 6pm on the 11th, 12th, 18th and 19th May at my home studio.

I’ve revisited my impression blossoms as special limited edition originals for this event. I find it impossible to ignore blossoms at this time of year, they call to be noticed and I'm helpless to ignore them! :]

My impression practice allows me time to break from my expression works, experiment and play which in turn inspires new thinking and new work. These blossom paintings are 56cm diameter and are mounted on a flat circular frame, ready to hang. There are 25 original editions in the series [detail photo below]. If you can’t make it to the open house, you can order your special limited edition original here.

Early work: Looking Up At Blossoms - Lockdown Series.
Continuing with the impression paintings for this newsletter, please find below the very first blossom painting I made as we emerged out of the UK lockdown in Spring 2021. This was a totally intuitive piece and I love the imperfect markings and splatters of ink. 3 years on, you may be able to tell that I have perfected the branches and the petals somewhat but I think the soft markings and splatters make up all of the charm of these paintings - developed over 30 years from my childhood love of calligraphy.

And Finally...
I have some wonderful new projects and exhibitions coming up in June with Artiq and July with Flux Exhibition and I can't wait to share more details of these with you in my next newsletter.

Thank you for taking the time out to read my news, until next time, With Gratitude,
Courtenay.
