Description:
This one-of-a-kind piece has a fascinating backstory. Originally inspired by a photo taken at Dulwich Park, I set out to create a tree but quickly realised that something wasn't quite right. After three unsuccessful attempts, I decided to go back to the drawing board.
I started again by layering more black and rubbing it down until I was satisfied with the base. Next, I recreated the trunk and branches in stunning gold tones. Feeling somewhat frustrated, I left the studio and took a detour through East Dulwich to clear my mind. It was then that I stumbled upon the most beautiful pure white blossom tree on Matham Grove.
Inspired by this unexpected encounter, I took a video of the tree and returned to the studio with renewed energy. Turning the piece on its side, I began to create. What emerged was a branch of a beautiful Blossom Tree.
This piece serves as a powerful reminder to never give up and to always trust your intuition. By turning my frustration into a present moment experience, I was able to create something truly unique and unexpected.
Where I grew up in Roehampton our estate was adorned with blossom trees. The block we lived in faced a lovely stretch of green which was home to 3 blossom trees and large oak trees, they were the first thing I would see when I looked out of my bedroom window. I’m very grateful for this magical childhood memory.
