There is nothing but futility in human conflict . Our endless struggle for ownership over something that was never ours to claim. While people divide, conquer, and draw boundaries across soil and stone, the earth remains unmoved and eternal. Long after we are gone, it will still breathe beneath its gloriously shifting skies, reclaiming what was borrowed. This work is a reminder of our impermanence and the illusion of our control. A call to humility.
The full title of this painting comes from Chief Seattle’s 1854 speech during negotiations with settlers and government representatives who wanted his people’s land - now Washington, USA.
